Meet the Team

Jenn HP website 2019

Jennifer Wiles, M.A., LMHC, BC-DMT

Director of HEARTplay, Camp Erin Boston and Children's Services at CareGroup Parmenter Home Care & Hospice, Inc.

Jennifer is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Board Certified Dance/Movement Therapist. Jennifer has served as the director of Children's Services, the HEARTplay program and Camp Erin Boston for the past eight years. Under Jennifer's direction, children's services has expanded significantly; bringing her award winning programs east to serve more grieving children.
She is on the adjunct faculty of Lesley University's Graduate School of Arts and Social Sciences, and an approved site supervisor for their Field Training Program.
Jennifer leads the school age group and teen groups at HEARTplay WEST in Wayland, one Saturday a month 10AM- 12PM (school age), 1PM-3PM (teen). Jennifer also supports and guides the teen mentors. In addition Jennifer leads the young adult group that takes place every other Sunday 5-7pm.

Audrey LaVallee, LMHC, BC-DMT

HEARTplay East Group Leader
Audrey is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Board Certified Dance/Movement Therapist. Her experience includes work with elders and adults living with a wide range of challenges. She has enjoyed teaching and training therapists as adjunct faculty at Lesley University and Endicott College.
She is passionate about dance and performs locally when she can spare time from her two young boys! She is continually fascinated and inspired by the capacity for movement to connect us to ourselves and to each other.
Audrey leads the school age group at HEARTplay EAST in Newton, one Saturday a month 10-11:30AM.

Katie McGrail, M.A., R-DMT

HEARTplay  After-School & HEARTplay West Pre-School Group Leader

Katie serves as Children's Services Coordinator at CareGroup Parmenter Home Care & Hospice, Inc. and as Assistant Director of Camp Erin Boston. She is a Registered Dance/Movement Therapist, a 200-certified yoga instructor, and is pursuing her LMHC. Katie's experience includes pre-bereavement and bereavement work with children and families, work with adults living with challenges including memory loss, homelessness, and acquired/traumatic brain injury as well as teaching dance and yoga to children and adults. In addition to dance and yoga, Katie enjoys reading, baking, and spending time outside!
Katie leads the HEARTplay Afterschool group 2 Wednesdays per month 4-6pm in Wayland, and the pre-school HEARTplay group one Saturday per month 9-9:45am in Wayland.

Sara Keary, PhD, LCSW

HEARTplay West Parent/Caregiver Support Group Leader

Sara is a social worker with over 15 years experience working with older adults and their families. She has her bachelors and masters degrees from the University of Pittsburgh and her PhD in social work from Boston College. In addition to to her role as a hospice and palliative care social worker with Caregroup Parmenter, Sara teaches at Boston College School of Social Work. Sara is committed to racial justice, social justice, and LGBTQ affirmative practice in all aspects of her work. Sara facilitates the parent/caregiver support group for HEARTplay West, one Saturday a month, 10am-12pm.


Jon Hazilla

HEARTplay Percussionist

Jon has been a Professor at Berklee College for twenty-nine years.
He is a certified Hospice volunteer for Aseracare Hospice. He has volunteered with various humanitarian organizations. He is a Pastoral Associate at First Parish Unitarian Universalist church in Brookline, Massachusetts and teaches in the R. E. program. He has run forty marathons and one ultra.
We are fortunate to have Jon bring his incredible experience as a musician and mentor to our HEARTplay groups.

Ken Barringer, M.A., LMHC  

HEARTplay East Parent/Caregiver Support Group Leader

Ken is the Director of the Academy of Physical and Social Development where he has worked since 1981. He is an adjunct faculty member at the Boston College School of Eduction and at Lesley University Division of Counseling and Psychology. He is a consultant to public and private schools as well as mental health programs and summer camps. Ken has a private practice specializing in grief and loss.
Ken facilitates the parent/caregiver support group for HEARTplay EAST in Newton, one Saturday a month 10 -11:30AM.

Kaiyue Chen

Graduate Student Intern

Kaiyue is currently a graduate student studying clinical mental health counseling and dance/movement therapy at Lesley University. She completed her first internship at the Boston Healthcare for the Homeless, with a focus on substance recovery. Kaiyue also has a background in mindfulness and relational meditation. In her free time, she enjoys dancing, making art, and hiking.

Sabrina M

Sabrina Mijares

Graduate Student Intern

Sabrina is a master's student of Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Dance/Movement Therapy at Lesley University. As part of her graduate program, she interned at an inpatient psychiatric hospital, where she led group and individual therapy sessions with four different inpatient populations. She is currently a graduate intern at CareGroup Parmenter Home Care and Hospice, Inc., where she is continuing her training and education of using the expressive arts in therapeutic practice.

Stewart McKenzie

Graduate Student Intern

Stewart is in the final year of the Master of Social Work program at Bridgewater State University. Prior to returning to school himself, he was a math and special education teacher at Framingham High School as well as a track and field coach.  In his free time Stewart enjoys running and watching the Red Sox and Celtics.
